A self-circulation system can be adopted for treating non-flammable, low-pressure gases. In this system, the absorber and regenerator are integrated into a single unit to reduce the number of vessels, pipelines and auxiliary equipment.

The sour feed gas contacts the Chelated iron solution in the inner cylinder of the integrated oxidation-regeneration tower, where hydrogen sulfide is removed.The sulfur-rich solution rises with the gas flow, overflows from the inner cylinder into the outer cylinder of the tower, and is then regenerated through contact with air supplied by a blower. The regenerated lean solution returns to the bottom of the inner cylinder for continuous recycling.
The sulfur foam produced flows from the upper part of the oxidation-regeneration tower into an overflow launder, then through the outlet pipeline to the sulfur foam tank.A filter press is used to separate sulfur particles from Chelated iron solution. The separated solution is collected in a filtrate tank, and then pumped back to the oxidation-regeneration tower by a circulation pump for recycling.
